The Cumbrians' Player of the Year asked to leave the club for personal reasons last month but Abbott has told the 25-year-old he can still have a future with United if he wishes.[LNB]"I would be wrong to close the door on someone like Cleveland as he was player of the year last season and he has always been outstanding in the dressing room and on the pitch," Abbott told the News & Star.[LNB]"I have tried to persuade him to stay at the club as the issue he has is not with me and there has certainly been no fall-out with the club."[LNB]He added: "In a week he might make a decision about his future but we need to know soon if we are searching for a new right winger because we have to make plans.[LNB]"I would certainly welcome him back as long as his reasons for staying are the right reasons."[LNB][LNB]
