Abbott thrilled with Hillsborough triumph

Greg Abbott hailed his Carlisle side after they knocked Sheffield Wednesday off the top of League One with a 1-0 victory. Craig Curran's first-half strike secured a first win at Hillsborough for the Cumbrians and lifted them to second in the table. A delighted Abbott said: "We're very pleased because we've come to a big football club with a terrific squad and a lot of quality and we've performed very, very well. "We will take a lot of positives from this. It's probably a marker for how good we can be. To come here and keep the fans quiet tells you that you're doing something right. "We were left to rue the fact that we didn't score more goals because that would have made it more comfortable. We defended well and held on reasonably comfortably. Abbott is now hoping Carlisle can maintain their fine form and added: "If we can keep plodding on, doing what we're doing and picking up points, then we might be in for a nice season. It's early days but we're probably on the right lines just now."
