Abbott sick of sinking feeling

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott admitted missed chances had cost his side a play-off challenge this season following a 1-0 home defeat to Leyton Orient. Orient took the lead against the run of play in the 37th minute when skipper Stephen Dawson fed Dean Cox inside the Carlisle half and his inch-perfect pass was drilled home by Jonathan Tehoue from the edge of the penalty area. Abbott said: "That's probably the biggest reason we're not in the top part of this division. "Our inability to score and be clinical in the last third cost us when we play so well. I'm really upset to lose. We were good enough to score from areas other than the penalty. "They set up with a five-man midfield and had pace on the break. The worst strike of the game ends up in the bottom corner. Orient defended well and did us on the counter. People will say their plan has worked to a `T'." Abbott warned: "Next season when we play like that we will have to put teams to the sword. The attitude was brilliant, but let's be a fantastic group of players that wins games."
