Abbott remains upbeat

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott was disappointed to see his team beaten for the first time in six matches but refused to be downbeat following the 2-1 loss at Walsall. The Cumbrians led in the 26th minute when Mike Grella followed up to smash a low drive into the net. But Walsall were level after 37 minutes, Matt Richards sending a superb free-kick from just outside the box curling into the top right-hand corner of the net. And eight minutes into the second half Richards struck again, taking a short free-kick from Richard Taundry in his stride and lashing a left-foot shot low past Adam Collin. Abbott said: "It was a good game, and we expected a battle with the teams the way they are. To be fair on Walsall they have had a right go. We felt we did enough to get something from the match but Walsall caused us problems at the back and we have lost to two set pieces. "We are not a bad team - a young side who work very hard for each other and try to play decent football but you won't be allowed to play fluent football all the time."
