Abbott praise for McDaid

Sean McDaid won special praise from his manager Greg Abbott for his goal-line heroics that helped lift the Cumbrians up to second place in the table on Saturday. Gary Madine struck his sixth goal of the season against Notts County and while Abbott was delighted with all his players, McDaid, a free signing from Doncaster in the summer, received a glowing tribute. Abbott said: "The whole team is a good unit in terms of not wanting to concede a goal. "I thought McDaid's block in the 88th minute when the cross came over at the far post, well that's not been happening, but it was a sensational challenge. "Everybody he plays against is six inches taller than him. Forget about all the other bits and pieces of his game, that was sheer will and determination not to concede a goal and that's what football matches are made and broken by."
