Abbott pleased with new boy Hurst
Hurst, signed on Monday for a six-figure sum from Scunthorpe, got his United career off to a dream start by opening the scoring with a right-foot curling shot which flew into the top corner after 14 minutes.
Stockport quickly equalised courtesy of an unfortunate Richard Keogh own-goal but Joe Anyinsah sealed a deserved victory after 64 minutes when he pounced from close-range following a dangerous Hurst cross.
"Kevan's a good player, his quality on the ball was tremendous at times. His goal was terrific too, he took it so well," said Abbott.
"Kevan's got a great touch and his understanding of the game is first class. He'll definitely make us better."
