Abbott now looking up

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott was relieved to see his team halt their slide towards the relegation zone after they beat Oldham 1-0 at Boundary Park. Craig Curran netted the Cumbrians' winner 10 minutes from time after getting on the end of Ben Marshall's cross to score from close-range. The win was Carlisle's first in five league games and Abbott said: "This result stops the rot after a sticky spell in the league and it's important we keep picking up points to keep our season alive. "It's a two or three game league because if we win those games we will be right back in it again. "People are fighting for their places and this was very important because if we had lost we would have been looking over our shoulders. "We wanted to get shots on target and we did that with a real team performance. To a man, every player has put in a wonderful shift."
