Abbott must lift his troops

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott doffed his cap to Dagenham for their fighting spirit and admitted his players could not match their hosts' desire after a 3-0 defeat. Jon Nurse's first-half brace ensured the Daggers took their fight for survival to the final day, with Danny Green firing the third late on shortly before being sent off for a second bookable offence. Abbott said: "I thought Dagenham played ever so well, they've given themselves a fighting chance of staying up and we've come to the end of a long, hard season and that showed in our performance. "They needed to pick up the points, they needed to play and perform and we didn't have the edge and if you haven't got that edge to your play you can only come off second best. "They were fighting for their lives here and we didn't have a great deal to play for. "We tried to give our fans that came down value for money, and they probably feel aggrieved that we didn't, but over the season we have done."
