Abbott looking over his shoulder

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott warned his side they could be in danger of slipping back into the League One relegation dogfight after they crashed 3-1 at home to bottom club Walsall. The Saddlers made it four games without defeat thanks to a first-half strike from Matt Gill and a second-half double by the lively Julian Gray. Carlisle pulled one back in stoppage time through a thumping Peter Murphy header but it was far too late to save them from a shock defeat. "I've had an hour with the players and I'm not sure whether I feel anger or disappointment," said Abbott. "I am not offering any excuses. We weren`t good enough. The lack of quality and responsibility we showed on the pitch disappointed me. "I've done some straight talking to the players. They need to improve. One fan said to me it was rubbish and I agree. Another said we could be in the relegation dogfight and I also agreed with that."
