Abbott fires complacency warning

The League One outfit narrowly avoided relegation following a dramatic final-day victory over Millwall and Abbott hopes to have more competition for places in the new campaign. He told the club's official website: "We want to see competition for places all over the park next season and it's signings like this [goalkeeper Adam Collin] that start to bring that kind of thing together. "Nobody will be in a situation where they can simply assume that they have a place and, even when they are selected, they will know that there are other players as keen and hungry to be doing the job. There will be no complacency at all and that's important for us." Meanwhile, defender Peter Murphy has had a steroid injection in his right knee in an attempt to help cure the medial ligament and articular surface problems that affected him last season. The 28-year-old, who is United's longest serving player, will return to see a specialist in mid-June and is expected to be given the all-clear at that stage.
