Abbott expecting January additions

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott is confident his squad will be stronger when the transfer window closes at the end of next month. Striker Gary Madine is one player currently linked with a move away from Carlisle, but Abbott has been busy behind the scenes to line up potential replacements for anyone who leaves Brunton Park in January. Abbott said: "The work is ongoing and we'll do things the way that we always do. Once there's something definite to report we'll let everyone know. "Until then the work will go on in the background to ensure that the squad is as strong as it is now, if not stronger, come the end of next month. "I'm not a massive fan of the transfer window because it can put pressure on clubs for different reasons, but it's not something we'll grumble too much about. "Every club is in the same position and the good thing is that we've been doing our work for a number of weeks. We're ready to act if we need to, so we'll just have to wait and see what January brings."
