Carlisle manager Greg Abbott called it "a 1-0 classic" after seeing his side beat Notts County at Brunton Park. Gary Madine scored the only goal of the game when he converted substitute Matty Robson`s cross to lift the Cumbrians into second place in the League One table. But County were unfortunate to suffer defeat after dominating the opening hour in a match which thrilled Abbott. He said: "It's the sort of game that puts both managers through the mill. "I don't think we have the best squad in the league but man for man we have the biggest hearts and more wins will only serve to increase our confidence. "Honesty and determination got us the three points. The players were determined not to concede. "We could have got another goal but County were terrific in the way they came and tried to play football. Credit to both teams. It was a wonderful 90 minutes."
