Abbott clings to positives

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott was dismayed to leave the Withdean Stadium empty-handed after a seven-goal thriller against Brighton. Former Chelsea midfielder Liam Bridcutt settled the issue in the fourth minute of stoppage time with an unstoppable shot, two minutes after Carlisle substitute Harry Arter appeared to have rescued a point for the visitors with an equaliser on his debut. Tom Taiwo and Ben Marshall were also on target for Carlisle, while Ashley Barnes (2) and Glenn Murray responded for the Seagulls. Abbott said: "You expect to get something out of the game after coming to the league leaders and scoring three times. "But the boys put in a tremendous shift. We deserved something out of it, but the most important thing of all is that we take this positive performance into our home game against Hartlepool on Tuesday." Abbott added: "We frightened them and their reaction at the finish said it all. There is no doubt that we will win more games than we'll lose if we continue to play in this manner."
