Abbott admits `best side won'

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott was quick to admit his side had been outfought by Dagenham in a 2-0 home defeat. The Daggers pulled off a shock win thanks to two late goals from Medy Elito and Danny Green. It was only Dagenham's second away win of the season, but it was reward for a positive second-half effort which belied their lowly league position. The visitors went all out for the win and were rewarded in the 81st minute when Elito stole in at the near post to slide home Kayleden Brown's cross from close range and Green fired home a shot from just inside the area with a couple of minutes remaining. Abbott said: "With every team you play you have to match their fight and determination before you start playing fancy-dan football. Dagenham made it hard for us, getting men behind the ball and hitting us on the counter. "To be fair they outfought us. They were the better side. At the end of it they looked a decent side and we looked ordinary. You have to do the basics properly and we didn't do it as well as them. "We have to scrap and tackle harder. They appeared to fight harder for everything and they got the result through sheer determination."
