Trophy presentation and open top bus celebrations
City will receive the Championship Trophy after the final whistle v Bolton this Saturday at CCS.
Fans are urged to stay off the pitch so the formal presentation can go ahead. The supporters were given their chance to celebrate on the pitch after last Tuesday's draw with Charlton confirmed promotion to the top flight. That will not be tolerated this week and fans who encroach could find themselves banned from the stadium
Saturday is the official trophy presentation and the players will receive their medals.
The following weekend on Sunday May 5th there will be an open top bus parade from the city centre to Cardiff Bay.
Exact details of that are still be confirmed.
Cardiff council leader Heather Joyce said: “This has been a truly epic week for City. Promotion to the Premier League on Tuesday was fantastic but now we have had the icing on the cake with the result meaning we also go up as winners of the Championship.
“It is only right and proper that the club will want to mark these two incredible achievements with a huge celebration which is why we are supporting them to make sure their loyal fans and supporters, as well as people from across the Cardiff city region, have the best possible experience when they celebrate their success.
“The event, which will take place on May 5 and will include an open top bus tour from the Cardiff city centre to the Bay, will hopefully give everyone a chance to see the team and show their appreciation for their achievement as well as give us all another reason to celebrate.
“As a council we are committed to doing all we can to help support the club as they take their place in the Premier League next season and make the most of the fact that Cardiff’s name is going to be emblazoned on screens across the world, raising the city’s global profile into the homes of hundreds of millions of people.
“So I really do hope as many people as possible put this date in their diary so they can help us all celebrate what is an historic occasion.”
