Thommo form pleases Jones
12 Dec 2007 - 09:07:29
Cardiff City striker Steven Thompson earned high praise from boss Dave Jones after netting the decisive goal in the 1-0 victory at Blackpool.
Thompson's strike helped the Bluebirds move six points clear of the drop zone, with Jones impressed by the efforts of the transfer-listed frontman.
He said: "No clubs have come in, so it's just a case of Thommo getting his head down.
"He's gone on the transfer list, but if he stays he might play. If he puts in the performances he is doing then he'll play.
"I don't care if he's on the transfer list or not. Nothing is personal in football, Thommo has accepted that and I have and it's up to him to keep going.
"He is on fire at the minute and when you're on fire as a striker everything you seem to hit seems to go in."
Thompson has scored in three of his last four games, outshining the likes of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Robbie Fowler in the process.
