Cardiff City's hopes of moving to a new stadium have been boosted by the news that a business plan for the 30,000-capacity arena has been recommended for council approval.
The Bluebirds are hoping to relocate to the Leckwith area of the city and the recommendation brings the £38million project another stop closer to becoming a reality.
Work on the project is now expected to begin in March next year with a scheduled completion date of 2008.
Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale said: "This announcement is truly a milestone for Cardiff City Football Club.
"Many people have been involved in getting to the stage where the talk has now turned into reality.
"From a position where the club's very existence was in question, we can now look forward to the day when we will be playing in a new stadium which will give us a real chance to compete with the very best in professional football."
