Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale has hailed the signing of Robbie Fowler as a massive coup for the Championship club.
The 32-year-old former Liverpool legend has penned a two-year contract at Ninian Park, joining the Bluebirds on a free transfer after his release by the Reds.
Ridsdale told Sky Sports News: "It's a major signing for this football club. It demonstrates our ambition is to take this team from the Championship to the Premiership.
"This summer we've managed to bring in six new signings, all of whom have strengthened the squad. We're going to go into the new season with renewed optimism."
Manager Dave Jones added: "It's a fantastic coup for Cardiff City, I'm really pleased.
"For a club like Cardiff now to be attracting the players like we have done means we're a growing club, a very ambitious one.
"I'm just pleased Robbie decided to join this football club and hopefully take us all where we want to go."
