Ridsdale aims to keep stars

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale is hoping to keep hold of the club's prize assets before the transfer window closes next week.

The Bluebirds supremo has not ruled out making moves of their own in the transfer market, but doesn't want to lose any more of his first-team squad before the window closes on January 31.

Cardiff have already seen Wales international Chris Gunter leave for Tottenham, while Joe Ledley continues to be linked with a Ninian Park exit.

"It is getting towards the end of January and, in my experience, a lot of things can happen in the last few days, so watch this space," Ridsdale told the Western Mail.

"There may be players coming in and some going out, you never know.

"Obviously we are very happy with the squad we have got at the moment, but, if there is an option to strengthen the squad, then we will have a look at it.

"We are hoping to hang on to our best players, we want those who are in the starting eleven at the moment to be there come the start of February when the window shuts."
