More injury woe for Bluebirds

Cardiff City are counting the cost of Tuesday night's 1-1 Championship draw with high-flying West Bromwich Albion after their injury-jinx continued.

Top scorer Peter Whittingham hit his 19th goal of the campaign but he limped out of the action and is now a doubt for the weekend clash against Barnsley.

It had been feared that striker Jay Bothroyd had pulled his hamstring but that does not now appear to be the case.

The draw keeps City in fifth place and manager Dave Jones was delighted with the effort from both the club's players and fans.

He said: "Thankfully Jay has cramp, nothing worse. But Whitts has a groin strain. I'm not going into the medical room any more. I never seem to get good news.

"I can't fault my players, I'm proud of every one of them. These are difficult times and the players are digging deep.

"The fans understand that and they were brilliant against West Brom. They backed the lads and that's what we need until the end of the season."
