Cardiff City midfielder Stephen McPhail has undergone surgery to repair damage to his thigh. He suffered the injury during the 1-1 televised draw with Nottingham Forest and is expected to be out for around three months. Initial scans suggested he would be out for six to eight weeks but after seeing a specialist, he was advised an operation would be the best solution. Speaking to the club's official website, manager Dave Jones said: "The specialist decided on an operation to re-attach the thigh muscle to the bone. "It's bad news about Stevie and he's a big loss because he's won the fans over again. We'll miss his creativity."
