McPhail nearing City return

Cardiff City midfielder Stephen McPhail is closing in on a return to action following a recent health scare.

The 30-year-old has not featured since the start of November, with a cancer scare putting a thigh injury firmly into the background.

However, after treatment which included radiotherapy, McPhail is looking forward to getting back out on to the field for the Championship promotion hopefuls.

He told Wales Online: "I trained on Friday and have been joining in with the lads this week, but they are not doing full out training with the amount of games that are coming up.

"I've really missed the game and I feel great and almost up to full strength, but I'm not putting any time on coming back or pin-pointing any particular game to make the comeback.

"The gaffer will be the judge of that with what he sees at training.

"I'm still with the physio most days and we will just have to see how it goes, but it's good to be back and kicking a football again. I've missed it badly and things are coming together now."
