McNaughton ready to return

Cardiff City defender Kevin McNaughton is delighted to be close to a return to action after a long battle to shake off a calf injury.

The 27-year-old Scotland international has not featured for the Bluebirds at all this season, but is in contention for a place in the side to face Barnsley this weekend.

He told Wales Online: "I'm fit and ready to go. This injury has been a nightmare. It's the longest I've ever been out.

"I've had a couple of hamstring injuries during my career, but the longest I've been out before this was eight weeks. I need to get back in action, I'm hopeless as a spectator.

"The nearest I've been to the first team this season was when I was on the bench against Crystal Palace, but I didn't get on the pitch. Now I'm looking forward to Barnsley.

"I'm feeling good. I honestly thought I'd be out for a week, maybe two, but it's been three months and it seems like an eternity."
