MacLean boost for Cardiff

Cardiff City are hopeful that injured striker Steven MacLean will be back in action at the beginning of November.

MacLean, 25, has been sidelined since suffering ankle ligament damage in a reserve team outing at the end of August.

Initial estimates suggested the former Sheffield Wednesday hitman could be out until December, but Bluebirds boss Dave Jones believes MacLean could return ahead of schedule.

"Steve is still on the road to recovery and he might be back earlier than scheduled," he told the club's official website.

"But there is no set time on ligaments healing and he is probably still a month away."
