Cardiff City's promotion bid has been hit by the news that Dutch defender Glenn Loovens will miss the rest of the season due to a foot injury.
The 23-year-old was injured in the 2-2 midweek draw at Southampton and missed the defeat at Derby County on Saturday.
Boss Dave Jones told the club's official website: "Because we're not carrying a massive squad, these injuries do affect us.
"We're trying to get people in and we went for someone the other day. But the price they wanted for just eight games, we just can't afford.
"No-one is going to help you. If you go to Premiership clubs, they'd be reserve players, but a lot of clubs aren't carrying big squads, so they won't let them go.
"We can't bring them in from abroad so it's frustrating for us, but we'll keep trying."
