Ledley move baffles Jones
10 Jul 2010 - 16:34:03
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has spoken of his bemusement ahead of Joe Ledley's protracted switch to Scottish Premier League giants Celtic.
The 23-year-old's contract has expired with the Bluebirds and, following their Championship play-final heartbreak loss to Blackpool, the Wales international is searching pastures new.
However, his expected destination has left Jones scratching his head.
Speaking to the South Wales Echo, he said: "It seems to be a done deal, although he's not been in contact to tell us.
"He's going to the Premier, but the wrong Premier. I'm a little bit surprised, but there you go. Sometimes you make your bed and have to lie in it.
"I spoke to him few days ago. He was still undecided then. I'm surprised at the decision, he said he wanted Premier League football.
"But we had no contact from any club other than Stoke.
"I'm disappointed I've lost a very good player, but if that's what he's decided, I wish him the best.
"We will try to get compensation through the training rule, battle that out with Celtic. You get training compensation when you cross the border and we will be arguing that out.
"There are set figures with Fifa. We will see what goes."
