Jones slams Chopra reports
27 Apr 2007 - 07:33:56
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has hit out at reports which claim Michael Chopra is on the verge of leaving Ninian Park for the Premiership.
The Bluebirds' top-scorer has recently signed a new contract to remain with the Championship side following his 22 goals this term.
Chopra, who arrived at Cardiff in a £500,000 transfer from Newcastle United last summer, has been linked with moves to Everton and Manchester City, but Jones insists the striker is going nowhere.
"I read one story that said Everton and Manchester City are conducting a bidding war over Michael," said Jones.
"I don't know who they are in a bidding war with, but it's not Cardiff City.
"We've not had an approach from either of them - or any other club.
"Michael is a Cardiff City player, he has just signed a new contract and clearly we want him to stay."
