Cardiff City manager Dave Jones is ready to offer a new contract to Joe Ledley, despite the midfielder being persistently linked with a move away from the club.
Ledley has been stripped of the captaincy at Cardiff City Stadium amid speculation of Ledley's potential departure, with several Premier League clubs thought to be interested in his signature.
But Jones has heaped praise on the 22-year-old after a positive reaction to the armband being taken away from him, confirming he is ready to offer the player a chance to prolong his stay in the Welsh capital.
"Joe understood the reasons why Mark took over," said Jones.
"Of course he was disappointed but you can't have a skipper whose future is in doubt. The chairman is still trying to negotiate a new contract with him.
"Will we cash in on him? We can only cash in on him if someone makes an offer and nobody has made an offer.
"Once the transfer window closes we'll keep trying to negotiate with Joe.
"We will go to a tribunal if he leaves. I can't speak for the tribunal, but I'm confident we would get a good deal."
