Jones patient with injured players
Published : 27 Sep 2010 12:03:27
Dave Jones is frustrated by the injuries to his key players but he's having to be patient as they recover from their ailments. City face Crystal Palace tomorrow and Barnsley on Saturday before a two week break because of the international matches.cardiffcity-mad understands that Seyi Olofinjana is close to a recall and could be in consideration for the game at the CCS tomorrow. It's upto the player if he thinks he is ready. Craig Bellamy is receiving treatment this week and could be in line to face Barnsley on Saturday after "tweets" posted by Bellamy's private physio Raymond Verheije. He says today "On my way to Cardiff again for the last phase of Craig Bellamy's rehabilitation. The overtraining injury thanks to the 2 sessions a day during the Man City pre-season has been repaired over the last few weeks. This week we primarily focus on improving his (match) fitness. Today his first training session with team. Hopefully on Saturday first game."Michael Chopra is doing well and there is a suggestion he could be fit for the bench this week. Dave Jones is targetting a fully fit squad for October 16th after the international break. With that in mind Jones may keep Chopra, Riggott and Olofinjana wrapped up until then. It will be great to see Bellamy back if he is fit for this weekend."We're trying to get them back," Jones told BBC Sport Wales. "My medical team are under immense pressure from me but I've also got to be sensible."I know what they're saying to me, that if we want them to go through a long campaign then for the sake of getting them back early for a game and then lose them for another three or four games is a crazy thing," Jones said. "So I've got to be a bit patient on that, I don't want to be but I have to. "I've got enough good players here to go and be better than what they were [against Millwall], because we won't always have the players as there will be injuries, there will be suspensions. "That'll do us the world of good getting the three points but we know our performance wasn't at the level we know we're capable of." Cardiff City v Crystal Palace.Tuesday 7:45pm.
