Jones hopeful of City takeover

Published: 19 Mar 2010 - 16:44:00

Jones on Thursday joined members of the club's board in a meeting with representative Dato Chan Tien Ghee, who made an initial investment in the South Wales outfit back in November and subsequently became a director himself. "They are keen," Jones told BBC Sport. "We've been talking about pre-season in Malaysia so I'd be very surprised if things don't go right." He added: "We're waiting for the investment. Everyone is praying it all goes well and we can get things sorted." City have until May 5 to come up with the remaining £1.9million of an unpaid tax bill and avoid a winding-up order. An adjournment was granted last week after Cardiff claimed a third party investor would be providing the club with £6million in funds, with under pressure chairman Peter Ridsdale known to be pursuing external investment.
