Jones hails season's best outing

"Our best result and best performance of the season," was Cardiff City manager Dave Jones' verdict on the battling 2-1 win over Leicester City on Tuesday night, a result that took them to fourth place in the Championship.

"We were different class first half and well deserved the 2-0 lead. We were magnificent in the first half and better than magnificent in the second half, but if there's a word for that, I can't think of it and that's what they were," Jones enthused.

After cruising through the first half the Bluebirds had Gabor Gyepes sent off with 20 minutes to go and had to put up a rearguard action every bit as impressive to Jones as their attacking exploits earlier in the match.

"We defended well, held our line and limited them," said Jones, who had to put up with some bad news in the shape of injuries to Chris Burke, Mark Kennedy, Darcy Blake and Kelvin Etuhu, who could all miss Saturday's derby match against Swansea City.
