Cardiff City boss Dave Jones was delighted to see his side go three points clear at the top of the Championship with a 3-0 win at Southend United on Sunday, but is not shocked at the players' progress.
First-half goals from skipper Darren Purse and Riccardo Scimeca gave the visitors a two-goal advantage before Joe Ledley made sure of the win just after the hour mark.
The result ended Southend's five-game unbeaten run at Roots Hall and confirmed the Bluebirds as serious contenders for promotion.
Jones said: "You always hope you're going to be top of the table but I'm not surprised to be there.
"We have belief and Cardiff is a great place to be because expectations are high.
"There's a feel-good factor but now we have to keep that going. We've had to work hard to come away with three points today and we have a tough game against Wolves next week."
