Jones enjoys City romp

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was full of praise for his players after they secured a thumping 4-1 home win over promotion rivals Preston North End. Goals from Peter Whittingham and Roger Johnson and a Michael Chopra double put paid to the Lilywhites at Ninian Park. Jones said: "It was a very important win as we couldn't let Preston move six points clear of us. "We have to win our home games to stay in the pack and we needed to show our intentions. "We started brightly against a good side and, once we had taken their hope away, we had to make sure they didn't get back into it. "The wide men were always going to be important and the quality of their crosses today was very high. "Preston are a threat and they are not where they are because they are mugs. They came here believing they could get a result."
