Manager Dave Jones praised the attitude of his Cardiff City players after they followed up their FA Cup high with a 1-0 win over Hull City on Wednesday.
A goal in the first minute by skipper Stephen McPhail was enough to give the Bluebirds victory and Jones was delighted after Saturday's cup exploits, where they reached the semi-finals following a victory over Middlesbrough.
"I knew it was going to be a difficult game after Sunday and that is why I made the changes," admitted Jones.
"They had a lot of possession and we had to work very hard but we never in any danger.
"I would have liked us to keep hold of the ball a little longer, but defensively we have been very solid and the lads have worked hard.
"We have moved up the table with that win and now we look forward to our next game at Colchester."
