Jones celebrates much-wanted present

Dave Jones spread plenty of Christmas cheer after watching his Cardiff side regain their swagger as they brushed aside promotion rivals Coventry 2-0.The Bluebirds, who went into the Boxing Day clash with just one win from their previous seven games, rediscovered their confidence during a first half in which they blew the Sky Blues away with their attacking play, yet only had Seyi Olofinjana`s 21st-minute strike to show for their dominance. The sterling efforts of visiting keeper Keiren Westwood kept the hosts at bay all afternoon and the points were only made safe seven minutes from time when Craig Bellamy saw his shot deflected by James McPake, finally killing off a Coventry side who asked more questions after the break.Victory was City`s first in the traditional post-Christmas fixture since 1999, and manager Jones said: "I am delighted with the result as we had to keep hold of the ball and we did just that against a big strong side."We have dominated recent games without getting the right results and in this division games can be tight. They threw on some big players and a lapse in concentration could have undone all our good work."Their goalkeeper had a tremendous game and probably saved his side from an even bigger defeat. He pulled off some outstanding saves, particularly from Michael Chopra in the first half. We had to continue to keep hold of the ball and create openings and while they tried to contain Craig Bellamy, it gave us more room elsewhere."
