Feeney makes City pledge
27 Mar 2007 - 10:14:45
New Cardiff City signing Warren Feeney intends to keep Michael Chopra out of the starting line-up when the Championship's leading scorer returns to fitness.
Bluebirds boss Dave Jones drafted Feeney into Ninian Park on an initial loan switch from Luton Town after Chopra was ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring problem.
Cardiff have agreed to sign the Northern Ireland international on a three-year contract in the summer and Feeney is determined to repay the faith show in him.
"It's a huge challenge for me to step in for a striker like Michael Chopra," said Feeney.
"But I'm up for the challenge and I'll do everything possible to help Cardiff qualify for the play-offs at least.
"That means playing so well I keep my place when Michael is fit.
"We'll see what happens, but hopefully I can give the manager a selection problem."
