City warn Gers off Loovens

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale has warned Rangers that he intends to play hardball over their attempts to sign Dutch defender Glenn Loovens.

The Scottish Premier League side are reportedly planning to table a £1.5million offer for Loovens, but Ridsdale has revealed he would want much more for the 24-year-old centre-half.

"I've heard reports about an interest from Rangers but I've heard nothing from the club," he said.

"The figure being reported may well be £1.5million but our valuation is far and away in excess of that figure.

"We'd look at a significantly higher figure before even thinking about it - and anyway we're talking about a player who is most certainly not for sale."
