City take hit after Birmingham relegation

Part of the transfer of Roger Johnson to Birmingham was a fee to Cardiff each year Birmingham stayed up. The Echo reported on Tuesday that a total of £1m over three season's would be paid to City as long as Birmingham stayed in the Premier League. The Blues' relegation last weekend has cost City the £333,333 they would have hoped to have got for Birmingham surviving a second season at the top level. The Echo claim City have received £666,666 already but I would question that Birmingham only actually stayed up for one season. At the end of season two they were relegated. Of course they have played two season's in the PL but I'm not sure if that counts. Either way City have lost a chunk of cash and will now face Birmingham next season in the Championship.
