Chopra extends City stay

Cardiff City's leading scorer Michael Chopra has signed a contract extension with the Bluebirds running until the summer of 2011.

The 23-year-old has scored 21 goals since moving to Ninian Park for £500,000 last summer from Newcastle United and had been linked with a possible summer transfer back to the Premiership.

However, Chopra told the club's official website: "I've signed an extension because I believe the club is going places.

"I'm doing well for myself this season and the team's doing well. We've just got to give it that final push to try to get into the play-offs.

"I told Cardiff at the start of the season that if I was playing week-in-week-out I would score 20 goals. I've done that and I'm very happy. Hopefully it can continue."
