Cardiff v Doncaster. Match preview
Published : 09 Sep 2011 13:31:22
After a two week break it's back to League action when Doncaster vist Cardiff City Stadium. It's been a tough start for the visitors who have picked up just one point from five games. That came at home to Bristol City in their last match. Their previous two League games ended with defeat to a late goal at Brighton on the opening day and a more convincing loss at Derby by three goals to nil. This fixture 12 months ago saw a Cardiff win with Craig Bellamy scoring on his debut. No Craig this time but a similar result would be welcome. City welcome back their international players and the squad will be boosted by the return to fitness of Filip Kiss and Aron Gunnarsson. They will be challenging Darcy Blake for his midfield place in the side. Blake started last week at Portsmouth and after his excellent showing for Wales in two international matches he will surely keep his place in the side. It's too soon for both Ben Turner and Steve McPhail. Both played for the development side in midweek and both will play against next Tuesday as they bid to regain full fitness ahead of joining full squad training. Kenny Miller scored for Scotland last weekend and Earnie will be desperate to get a goal to erase the memory of that miss in midweek against England. Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll is set to be boosted by the return of three players for the trip to Cardiff. James O'Connor, Shelton Martis and Brian Stock have all recovered from injury to boost Rovers as they seek to cause an upset in the Welsh capital. Yet the Yorkshire outfit remain beset by injuries and James Chambers, Martin Woods, Adam Lockwood, Billy Sharp and Ryan Mason all remain sidelined. Cardiff City have released 800 more tickets in the family stand after reconfiguring the away end. The family stand is ssold each game with season ticket holders but there's availability at the moment. The match will also be a police free fixture. As usual there will Twitter and Facebook updates during the game. Cardiff City v Doncaster RoversCardiff City StadiumSaturday 10th September 2011, ko 3:00pm.
