Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay rejects lack of ambition claims

CARDIFF CITY manager Malky Mackay has rejected suggestions his table-topping Bluebirds lack ambition on the road.

Cardiff face a big November with four of their six clashes away from home, starting with a trip to Bolton today.

At home it has been the perfect start for Mackay’s men, the 4-0 dismissal of Burnley last weekend making it a historic seven wins out of seven at the start of a campaign.

But on the road things have not been so straightforward; the Bluebirds picking up two wins and a draw but also suffering three defeats and shipping 10 goals in the process.

The most recent of those came in their last away fixture when they were comprehensively beaten 3-1 at Nottingham Forest.

Indeed, if Cardiff are sitting top of the Championship thanks to their epic home showings, being 14th in the division’s away form table does not make such pretty reading.

Many have called for the Bluebirds to employ the same approach that has served them so well at home – but Mackay believes there is little wrong with the away form, insisting the heavy defeats are down to individual errors.

“We didn't lack ambition at Millwall, we didn’t lack ambition from half-time onwards at Ipswich, and we did not lack ambition when we scored at Bristol,” said Mackay.

“We are scoring goals. How can we be lacking ambition if that is happening? It’s individual errors we have to cut out.
