Cardiff City are hopeful of signing on-loan Aston Villa winger Wayne Routledge on a permanent basis. Routledge, 23, is due to return to the Premier League club on January 17, but Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale believes a deal can be struck to keep him at Ninian Park. "We have made an offer for Wayne to Aston Villa and discussed personal terms," he told the Western Mail. "We are very hopeful about signing him on a permanent deal after his excellent spell on loan with us."
