Bluebirds to fight charges

Cardiff City have confirmed they will challenge Football Association of Wales disciplinary charges facing manager Dave Jones and midfielder Simon Walton.

The Bluebirds pair were hit with charges of bringing the game into disrepute following a fiery 1-0 win over Leeds United at Ninian Park earlier in the month.

Walton was dismissed and was charged after kicking the substitute's board as he walked from the pitch, while Jones faces action after slamming the performance of referee Mark Clattenburg.

"We are very disappointed that the Football Association of Wales has brought these charges," said Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale.

"Anyone at the game will know why we are trying to get the charges dropped."
