Cardiff City have swooped to secure a free transfer deal for West Bromwich Albion's out-of-favour midfielder Ricardo Scimeca.
The 30-year-old has penned a loan deal which will enable him to feature in the Bluebirds' clash against Burnley on Saturday and will then sign permanently on Sunday, after he was unable to complete a medical in time to beat Friday's noon deadline.
Scimeca played an integral part in the Baggies' top-flight survival mission last season, but he has found first-team chances under boss Bryan Robson few and far between this time around, with just three appearances to his name.
As a result he has been allowed to leave in order to gain regular action and he will link-up with former Baggies team-mates Darren Purse and Jason Koumas, who is on loan, at Ninian Park.
