Bluebirds pair face charges
27 Feb 2007 - 14:36:51
The Football Association of Wales has brought charges against Cardiff City manager Dave Jones and midfielder Simon Walton in relation to the stormy 1-0 win over Leeds United.
Jones has been handed a disrepute charge for his post-match comments about the performance of Mark Clattenburg, while Walton has been charged with improper conduct for kicking the fourth official's electronic board as he left the pitch.
Walton was dismissed for alleged diving by Clattenburg and cannot appeal the decision as it was a second yellow card rather than a straight red.
Jones had said after the Ninian Park victory on February 17: "Our performance overall deserved the three points but because of the referee I'm now short of two more players.
"If he's not good enough for the Premiership then he shouldn't referee in the Championship.
"The red and yellow cards handed out were in the main for nothing challenges and at one stage I didn't know how many players I'd finish up with.
"It appeared to me that the referee was doing everything possible to give Leeds a helping hand."
