Bluebirds grit pleases Jones
29 Jan 2009 - 10:49:51
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones praised the 'grit and determination' of his players after their 2-0 Championship victory over Coventry City on Wednesday.
The Bluebirds were back in action 72 hours after holding Arsenal to a goalless draw in the FA Cup and took the points courtesy of goals from Jay Bothroyd and Ross McCormack.
"I think considering our performance on Sunday, we showed a lot of grit and determination. We also played a lot of good football," said Jones.
"Full credit to the players because they kept going and they showed great tenacity and a willingness to run and chase and do the dirty part of football, which is always difficult after the kind of game we had on Sunday.
"It was a massive team effort and everybody worked their socks off.
"I wasn't sure what kind of reaction we would get after Sunday, but I need not have worried. I think our fitness coach deserves a lot of credit."
