Bluebirds appeal fails

Cardiff City have failed with their appeal to the Football Association of Wales against the red card Steven Thompson picked up at Bristol City.

The FAW ruled that referee was correct to dismiss the Scotland international for a two-footed lunge on Robins keeper Adriano Basso.

The striker must now serve a three-match suspension.

He will miss Saturday's home clash with Sheffield United as well as the visits to Watford and Preston North End.
