Peter Whittingham earned the praise of manager Dave Jones after his two spectacular goals inspired Cardiff`s 3-2 comeback victory over rivals Bristol City. The Bluebirds midfielder arrowed his first goal into the bottom corner a minute into the second half to haul the Welsh club back from two goals down and then curled home a sublime free-kick to seal the victory. "Peter Whittingham was outstanding and his work rate was superb," said Jones. "He's also back to scoring again and both free-kicks were superbly taken. His second was pure quality." Bristol City had turned the form book upside down early in the first half by roaring into a two-goal lead in the first eight minutes thanks to efforts from on-loan Tottenham teenager Steve Caulker and Jon Stead, before Jay Bothroyd pulled one back for the home side. Jones was not happy with the way his side started the game, he said: "The first 10 minutes were very sloppy defensively and some of the players looked as though they were still on an international break. We looked a little lazy at the back. "It was hard when we were 2-0 down but we cleared our heads quickly got back in to the game with Jay Bothroyd's goal and I told them at half-time if we could keep a clean sheet in the second half we would go on to win."
