Whittingham was criticised by Jones for his performance at Southampton last Saturday but feels he should retain his place after his impressive goalscoring display in Tuesday's 3-1 victory against Barnsley.[LNB]He told the South Wales Echo: "I think the manager would take credit for my Barnsley display. I had been out for quite a while and I just wasn't right at Southampton and the gaffer had a go at me.[LNB]"He gave me a bit of a talking to before the Barnsley game and told me what I was capable of. I was happy with my general performance against Barnsley.[LNB]"I got an assist and a goal and will see what the gaffer will do on Saturday. But I was a lot happier with my performance on Tuesday.[LNB]"I think if Chris Burke was fit he would have played instead of me against Barnsley and I would have had no complaints. But I thought I had a decent game and it will give the manager something to think about before the Doncaster game on Saturday."[LNB][LNB]
