After missing the win at Birmingham on New Years Day Peter Whittingham is ready to play this Saturday.

It was initially though he could miss a number of games after tweaking his knee in the victory over Millwall on December 29th.

“Peter is ready to play against Ipswich this Saturday and we are delighted to have him back,” said Malky Mackay.

“He tweaked a knee during our match against Millwall, but he’s been back in training and is certainly part of my plans for this weekend.”

City will also welcome back Andrew Taylor who missed the Birmingham game through illness and there could be a place in the squad for Tommy Smith who could finally be fit after a long time out.

City's first team squad have had been rested since their incredible Christmas with four wins in a row,

“The players were physically drained after our spell of four matches in 11 days," the boss continued.

“We could not have pushed them any further, but the break has done them the world of good.

“They are all desperate to get back out there this Saturday. After a few days off they are hungry to play Championship football again.”
